I couldn’t wait to look at my inventory to put together Sophia Harlow’s blogger challenge, Ch Ch Changess…NOW & THEN. The first thing I said to Laynie is that I hope I still have some of the clothes. Long gone is the shape that I used back at the very beginning but I think that is for the best.

I remember when I first saw the Fall Frolic dress from Rosepetal Creations while I was lucky chair hopping. I loved the color so much that I kept coming back to her chair just to stare at the ad. Rose Farina and I got on a first name basis from all my visits. I saved up every single Linden I could until I could afford this dress. The hair from Pazazz was an easier buy because a friend I met through Laynie brought us there and offered to buy us hair. Spending $1000L on skins  seemed scary to me but I wanted something more than newbie skins so bad. I was so happy when I found that PanJen had skins that were $350L.

Early in 2007 Laynie dragged me to Nevermore Studios with the sole intention of getting me another skin. I had been blogging for just over a month and needed more than the few PanJen skins I had acquired and I recall she went halfsies on the price so I couldn’t pass up that deal. Around the same time GuRL 6 had released one of my favorite $1L hairs of all time called Lemonade. I loved this style so much and wore it all the time. PixelDolls had a fantastic sale during the month of February and I splurged a bit on casual clothing. Anyone who has run into me knows that I am usually barefoot. I think it all came from spending most of my money on hair. The only shoes I owned at this time were a nice pair of heels that I had won from a lucky chair at S & G Footwear.

Christmas Spirit – Toys for Tots

Wunderland Records has just released their first annual Second Life Christmas CD for $500L. There is something very special about this CD. Not only does it feature 50 SL musicians but the 100% of the proceeds from the of the CD will be donated to Toys for Tots. They have also made it easy to track the donations for the CD at their sales report which will update every 24 hours.

Felicia’s Fashions for Fall Flare

There are some designers that stand out because they not only make clothes you love but they are great people. One such designer is Felicia Helendale who is the owner and designer for Felicia’s Fashions. This designer has a heart of gold and she can personally inspire people to be their best. If you have never been to her store before, you need to head over there. Felicia’s Fashions offers affordable and stylish outfits that keep you, literally, dress from head to toe with many outfits coming with their own shoes.  The Madison outfit shown in the third picture will be released later next week so keep an eye out for it.

Have you been to Bina?

Have you ever stumbled upon a a store that you just loved? During a random search for some new Lucky Chairs I came across Bina. I am not into the Gorean scene but many of the clothes at Bina can be worn for that RenFaire feel as well. Most of the outfits at Bina have so many different ways to wear this collection that you can have a great time playing dress up to see your options.

Avana Scrumptious Jacket

When I saw this scrumptious Avana Fur Coat from Nicky Ree I melted. It was love at first sight. I kept going back to look at the over and over. I plurked it. I told friends about it. It is rare for an item to make me gush so much. I think Stanley was tired of hearing about it. The fur is perfectly mastered in its design. Wearing this jacket makes me feel like I am wrapped up in a cloud of security. To top this all off it comes with a matching fur handbag, buttery leather pants, a silver belly chain belt, and an optional bra for the modest.

So what do you wear with such a master piece? The DeShawn cornrows from Discord Designs, of course, because their simplicity does not distract from the jacket. I am not afraid of wearing male styles and you shouldn’t be either. The shoes posed a puzzle for me because at first I was looking through my boots collection. This lead to some inventory sorting which lead to finding this cute pair of cocoa pumps from Elika Tiramisu Designs that I picked up during her last sale.

Blogger Challenge: Sci-Fi Inspiration – Blade Runner

I have a Blogger Challenge for those of you out there.  Let’s see your Sci-Fi Inspiration.   It can be anything from books, movies, comics, etc.   Show us how you can get all Sci-Fi in SL.

Using the Tuli special skin with the Pris makeup from Blade Runner I built around that to costume Pris as close as I could in SL.   I knew that Kaori from Exile would be the perfect fun hair to wear for this project and settled on the Sahara texture for its slightly dirty blonde look. The eyes are my own from Tea Lane in grey blue.

The mesh top that Pris wears was the hardest part to find.   I was trying to find the right look when I came across the Temptation line from Stellar.  The mesh on the top was the right sheerness.   I added a black camisole from Lookr to finish the look of the top.

I came across a nice pair of basic black shorts from The Steamtress which I paired with a pair of tattered grey stockings from Sassy Kitty Designs. The layered look the stockings worked to substitute for the thin black leg warmers worn by Pris. Finding the right shoes was becoming a problem so I ended up making a pair of metallic ballet flats in dark grey to finish the look.

The Spy Who Wore Red

Marni Grut has issued a blogger challenge with the theme being Ispy with the basic idea to dress up as a spy. A family friend has an aunt who was a spy during WWII with the OSS. I used this to inspire my ideal secret agent. Aline Griffith, now the Countess Aline Romanones, wrote a series of books about her adventures with a few fictional twists. She chronicles her first adventure in The Spy Who Wore Red sticking the era and color in my head to work with.

Going with a WWII-inspired spy and using red for my them I looked for the perfect vintage look.   I immediately thought of Ingenue for both the hair and the clothing. My spy likes to steal government secrets in the bedroom so I went for the Very Merry Widow in Ruby with my favorite Ingenue style, Bombshell. Fond of accessorizing, my insider discovered the cutest polished ruby set from Persona that matches the outfit perfectly. The Nosferatu makeup on the Shiloh skin line from Exodi completed the look with its matte red lipstick.

Note: To people who get butt-hurt over a fictional blog and fictional spy I created that was inspired by the era and color of the book mentioned. What? Seriously? What? Next time read the entire blog and you would know that the color and time period were inspired by the book, nothing more. I placed bold on the words that were key to figuring out this blog was inspiration not based on.  No where does it say this is a blog that pictures her.  The mention was merely to get my fellow-readers to go out and try a new book series they might enjoy.

Hybie’s Blogger Challenge: BBW Cutie

Hybie challenged bloggers to make a big girl or guy shape and post a cute blog.

I started with my usual base shape and played around with different sliders to try and find the look I wanted. There were many undos and back to the drawing board issues but I think I am happy with the end result.

For the pictures I used mostly the chubby girl poses from LAP which take in to account larger hips, chest, waistline and more.  I have a fondness for jeans and the Jam Hoody from Maitreya always has the cuteness factor.

Pale Shades of Summer

It is anniversary time at Hal*Hina. Along with some great specials there is this beautiful skirt as a gift to celebrate the occasion. (Tip from Beanie Canning.) I wore with the top from a dress at /artilleri/ called Eva.

The jewelry and boots(I know they are hidden by the skirt) are 2 of the specials at the Car Wash Side Walk sale. All items on the carts at the 2 sims that make up the Car Wash shopping area are $10L or less. There are over 45 designers participating.  The jewelry is from Bliensen + MaiTai and the boots are from Sentou Yousei.

The Tuli update group is a great investment at $250L to join. The most recent gift is a set of Hope skins in the new Goth tone. This is the natural makeup but there is also one inspired by the movie Blade Runner. This new release from Amacci called Zana in black coal worked perfectly with this skin.

Some Kind of Wonderful: Amanda Jones

Achariya issued the Blogger Challenge: In Memory of John Hughes. Spending most of my teenage years in the 80s, I knew I had to participate.  I went with Some Kind of Wonderful for one simple reason:  Amanda Jones is played by Lea Thompson and she is awesome.  Here is my take on Amanda Jones, SL style.

The hardest part for me was deciding where to find the right look for the hair.   After looking at several stores with close but not quite matches, I ended up at Damselfly and found an older style called Cherish II.  I hate to get repetitive here but the Jules denim skirt I used in the last blog from Maitreya also comes in black.  The skirt prims are mod so I was able to tint it darker to get the right shade.  I begged Laynie to make me a vibrant blue version of her button down shirts to complete the look. The vibrant colors will be released at Tea Lane later in the week.  After asking around about sheer black pantyhose, I was pointed toward Blaze which has a nice set of sheer pantyhose that are also mod.   The shoes were giving me some trouble. I have to thank Anessa Stine from On Your Toes for being patient with me. She pointed me to Lya for a pair of Valentina Lace Boots.  Once again I tinted them darker for the right look.  Unlike most girls in the 80s, the character of Amanda Jones has very minimalistic makeup going so I went with Tuli’s Hope skin natural to match that look.
